Every building we design is an opportunity to deliver a better version of life for the people who will use it. It’s about taking the time to understand the challenges of end users and then designing solutions firmly backed by the experiences of the people and communities we’re designing for.

In the eight years since Luke Johnson joined CannonDesign, he’s applied a philosophy of servant architecture to every community he’s touched – from sitting on the board of the Buffalo Architecture Foundation, to serving as chair of the Architecture + Education program (A+E), to helping launch an educational outreach program for area Native American youth, among many others. As design leader of our Buffalo office – the youngest design leader in the 1,000-plus person firm – Luke’s work advances those communities with award-winning designs in everything from mental health facilities and PK-12 and higher education campuses, to urban redevelopment and cultural outreach centers. In his short tenure at CannonDesign, Luke has earned four regional AIA awards, including the 2016 Merit Award for his work with the Addison Central School District, as well as the 2010 President’s Award for having earned the highest overall GPA in his graduating class from the University at Buffalo.
