Andy Lewis, AIA
While I find equipment planning itself to be fascinating, it’s the high level of user involvement and collaboration among stakeholders that drives my passion for this work. We all have experiences in healthcare settings and hospitals – whether our own or with loved ones – which have the potential of being the most joyful and emotionally powerful experiences we will ever have. Being a part of that is very humbling, and I would not change it.
As director of equipment planning for Blue Cottage of CannonDesign, Andy is involved in healthcare projects from design through construction administration, with an attention to the functional placement of equipment and its integration into the overall department’s design. He is an expert in 3D modeling, including quick studies to facilitate the end-users’ visioning of how the equipment will function in the new space. Andy’s healthcare planning skills and awareness of healthcare codes bring a comprehensive perspective to the equipment planning process. Additionally, his ability to document and facilitate coordination between other members of the design team through drawings, technical data, and specifications minimizes design and construction conflicts and keeps projects on time and under budget.
