Expanding student-athlete horizons at USI

University of Southern Indiana, Screaming Eagles Arena, Evansville, IN

A pivotal project for the University of Southern Indiana (USI), the expanded and renovated Physical Activities Center (PAC) creates  a new building to serve as a campus icon, enhance student and student-athlete recruitment, and bolster athletics and associated academics programs.

A multi-dimensional and phased effort, the PAC is one building comprised of three distinct projects, including

  • The introduction of  Screaming Eagles Arena – a 4,300-seat venue to host the school’s basketball and volleyball teams that can also host concerts and graduation ceremonies.
  • The complete expansion and renovation of the PAC to create a new building entry, kinesiology lab, extensive multi-use space, hall of fame area, training rooms and more.
  • A new natatorium that will allow USI to create its first NCAA men’s and women’s swim teams

The building design employs light, geometry and texture to unite the surrounding campus areas and connect the building to key pedestrian paths. The project strengths USI for the future by numerous measures.
