A Hub for WELL-ness at Gator Nation

University of Florida, Student Health Care Center

An exciting departure from its 1930s predecessor, University of Florida’s new student health care center is on pace to become the first WELL certified higher education facility in the country, making it a model for other institutions to follow.

The building advances the health and human experience for the university’s entire student body with primary care, women’s health, psychology, a pharmacy, physical therapy, x-ray space, an infectious unit and more key services. The health center also offers a multipurpose room for extensive wellness activities.

The center is designed for high accessibility with multiple entries and positioned on campus to help enhance students’ campus arrival experience. A central landscape garden is an active “heart” of the building, helping unite a primary student pathway to a ground-level plaza and ultimately, a roof terrace for outdoor wellness activities that sits just outside the multipurpose room. These design features embrace the landscape and welcome natural daylight – both key components for WELL certification.
