Expanding Possibilities in STEM Education

University of Houston – Clear Lake, STEM Building, Clear Lake, TX

In the fall of 2014, University of Houston-Clear Lake opened enrollment to freshmen and sophomore-level students for the first time. A progressive plan by the university established a strong demand for lower-level STEM courses, increasing matriculation into upper-level courses. The new 120,000 sf STEM building will double the campus’s current science facilities and provide capabilities to better meet the instructional demands and research initiatives of students and faculty in the greater Houston region.

When completed in the fall of 2018, the building will provide general classrooms, research and teaching labs, a computer lab and active-learning classrooms designed to foster hands-on training experiences. Departmental administrative offices and support spaces are suited together for flexible assignments and to encourage collaboration.
