The Museum of Tolerance (MOT) is an educational arm of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an internationally renowned Jewish human rights organization that focuses on elevating understanding about the dynamic of racism and prejudice through unique interactive exhibits. The design of the MOT Jerusalem center creates a space for public engagement that fosters learning while supporting the belief that unity and civility are vital components for the healthy interaction between all races and religions.

The geometry of the garden is designed to continue the language of the museum, designed by a local Israeli architect. Creating a synergistic forecourt to the museum, the garden is elevated to create a clear path to the front door and makes a safe and celebrated environment for the public to congregate, meander through as part of the urban experience of this important site. At night, the education walls and monuments illuminate the gardens – creating dynamic pools of light that flows toward the heart of the campus.

The garden compliments the museum design through the creation of a series of folded planes with strong angles found in the donor wall and standing monuments that elevate the museum’s iconic stature. Honoring Nobel Laureates, the design includes elegant, large glass tablets in their names, accompanied by an engraved picture and text detailing their major contributions to the enrichment of mankind.

Designed to inspire and educate children and adults alike, the gardens remind us that peace and unity are essential pieces for survival in the 21^st century.
