A new children's hospital for Colorado Springs
This new state-of-the-art children’s hospital is planned on the Colorado Springs Memorial Hospital campus in Colorado Springs, bringing a dedicated healthcare facility to the area’s thousands of children. The Children’s Hospital of Colorado project will include planning, design and construction of a new multi-story building of approximately 292,200 sf configured on five floors to accommodate inpatient operations, including emergency services, surgery, imaging (including MRI), pharmacy, infusion, neurophysiology, 49 NICU beds, 36 medical/surgical beds, and 12 PICU beds.
According to Children’s Hospital Colorado, the new hospital will a include a neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, creative play area for patients’ siblings, a sleep study lab, and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. The Colorado Springs location will also be home to the first pediatric-only operating rooms and emergency department in the region.
The project will be constructed adjacent to and concurrent with the construction of a new adult inpatient women’s facility, to be operated by UCHealth. The two buildings will be connected with a corridor connection on four levels. The site will be developed as a part of the UCHealth project in coordination with this Project. Central utilities will be provided by a central plant shared by the entire campus. Dedicated emergency power will be located next to CHCO’s building.
