Abstract: The Power of Design, A Campus Transformation Story

The built environment is playing an increasing role in hiring and retaining workforces across all industries. Workforce mobility, affiliation with a corporate brand, and sensitivities to non-hardscape campus settings are just a few examples of the endless factors which influence one’s choice of employment. Today’s institutions and corporations are challenged to balance the need for cost-effective, yet contemporary space with the future ability to adapt their campuses as business models or employee preferences evolve. While no single solution to the built environment will equally meet the needs of all industries, key strategies can help balance monetary and social needs of any organization. Explore actionable steps organizations can take toward becoming a workplace of preference. Focus on the implementation of proactive employee feedback loops, consistently designing campuses and buildings for flexibility, and the infusion of environmental landscaping as a fabric of connectivity.
