John Roach and John Boekelman are featured in the current issue of Modern Steel Construction, having written a piece featuring CannonDesign’s work on Lancaster General Hospital. The piece focuses on the engineering elements of the project, including how the team was able to vertically expand its Stauffer Building wing. Specifically, designing the structure that currently links the expanded Stauffer Building to the existing Lime Street Building posed several unique challenges for the team. CannonDesign worked with Benchmark Construction to develop a carefully coordinated development sequence: removing each bridge of the facility, only after the surrounding structure had been completed, which helped establish an alternative path of travel between the buildings.
More background on the project and the full text of the piece can be found here.
