A new article from the St. Louis Business Journal reveals how CannonDesign is helping Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami strategically design and implement a $275 million expansion. The article reveals how once completed in 2018, the Mount Sinai facility will have a new 35,000 s.f. emergency department across 50 treatment bays, 155 private patient rooms, and 12 extra-large operating tables. The hospital, designed in the 1960s to accommodate 20,000 patient visits, currently welcomes 50,000 patient visits a year. The new design will enable the facility to accommodate up to 100,000 visits a year.”
The renovation effort also means designing for and using materials that can withstand Category 5 hurricane winds, or 185 mph, and flooding due to the facility’s location in Miami Beach.
“We’re changing the culture of Mount Sinai,” said Natalie Petzoldt in the article. “It will be transformational…we’re catapulting them forward.”
